Blackford Bi-Weekly Number 14

KS1
This term in RE we have been focusing on Special Places. We have looked at special places for different religions. We looked at Hinduism and we made our own shrine and thought about reasons behind each object.

KS2
Our new topic this term in Science has been ‘Light’ which the children have thoroughly enjoyed. This week we were investigating which materials reflected light the best and then we designed our own school bag to use in the dark nights.

Blackford Bi-Weekly Number 13

KS1
On Thursday we had a Maths morning - our focus was statistics. We linked a few activities to our Space topic. In one activity, we sorted alien pictures using a Venn Diagram.

KS2
During Thursday afternoon, the Juniors have been learning how to play tag rugby with a coach. They are thoroughly enjoying it and are getting very good, very quickly!

Blackford Bi-Weekly Number 12

KS1
In Science, we have been doing little investigations to find out which material works well for a certain job. We think the results will help the character of our book, Bob the Man on The Moon.

KS2
In Art, we have completed our work on ‘aboriginal art’ and some of our work is available to see on our website and Twitter account. We have now begun to look at Chinese water colour. Topic has been very exciting so far as we have been learning about ‘space exploration’.

Blackford Bi-Weekly Number 11

KS1
During English, we are working on activities linked to the book ‘The Man on The Moon’ by Simon Bartram. In RE, we have been looking at Harvest and why Christians around the world celebrate harvest.

KS2
During PE, the KS2 children have been developing their ball handling skills using a range of sports equipment and have been progressing well. In Art, we have started to look at various art from around the world and have focussed on ‘aboriginal art’ this week.

Blackford Bi-Weekly Number 10

KS1
In Science, we have been focusing on developing our investigation skills using different materials. We explored which materials would make the best umbrella for Little Bear.

KS2
In Science, we have been learning all about animal adaptations and evolution. We have been able to identify the adaptations of animals in extreme environments and have developed our understanding of natural selection.
